Loving all things sweet growing up, Emily’s favorite childhood memories were when she would visit her family in Indiana, and bake with her Grandmother in her farmhouse kitchen.   Everything they made was from scratch, and Emily still uses many of those same recipes today in the Surprise Surprise kitchen.  Emily took naturally to the art of baking.  Her passion for baking and eating sweet things continued, and while in grade school, friends could always count on her to make their birthday cake.  Emily began her career as a model at the age of 18, but her passion remained baking.  The flexible schedule left her lots of time to perfect her recipes and experiment with tasty new ones, and the travel gave her exposure to different cuisines.  Dreaming of cupcakes, cookies, and pastries galore, she always hoped to one day have a bakery of her very own.  Why?  To bake treats, of course to eat treats, and most importantly, to see the joy her baked delights bring to others.  Emily’s dream came true, and in 2011 Surprise Surprise Bake Shop was born!

Kristin is originally from a small town in Illinois. She was working as a Credit Analyst in Chicago when she decided to make the big move to Los Angeles to discover her passion. She is a world traveler and a self-proclaimed foodie, who loves experiencing other cultures, especially their cuisines! Her love of food led her to Surprise Surprise Bake Shop, where she fell in love with the artistry of baking. She has always felt the pull to be creative and enjoys experimenting with new designs for our desserts. As she likes to say, “You always eat with your eyes first! It’s all about the presentation.” She loves to see the excitement on people’s faces when they see our desserts and takes joy in knowing that the excitement will only continue when they take a bite!
